BASE
BASE Jumping
BASE is an acronym for Buildings, Antennas, Spans (bridges), Earth. These are the main groups of objects in BASE jumping.
After 18 years of jumping from aircraft, I decided to give jumping from a fixed object a try. After intense mentoring from Chris LaVesser, in 2012 I jumped at Bridge Day at the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia. I've made a few more since then. Admittedly, the sport has sucked me in.
I have taken a toe-in-the-water approach to BASE jumping. I am very conservative in what, when, and where I will jump. There aren't many second chances and I do whatever I can to make sure all factors are golden before I choose to jump.
